GGGI publishes 2015 Annual Report

SEOUL – June 16, 2016 – The Global Green Growth Institute today published its 2015 Annual Report, which highlights strong progress toward strengthening green growth planning, financing and institutional capacity and knowledge sharing in developing countries and emerging economies.

Two-thousand fifteen marked the first year of implementation for GGGI’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020, which focuses on supporting GGGI Members and partner-countries transition to models of growth that simultaneously achieve poverty reduction, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and economic development.

“Global momentum for a sustainable, inclusive future increased tremendously last year, and I am happy to note GGGI’s strong contribution to this effort through delivery of impactful green growth results on the ground,” said Yvo de Boer, GGGI Director-General. “GGGI took transformational steps in 2015 to operationalize its Strategic Plan, leverage partnerships and deliver results that indicate GGGI is moving in the right direction.”

The 2015 Annual Report assesses GGGI’s work and results against three key outcomes prioritized in the Strategic Plan 2015-2020:

1. Strengthened national, sub-national, local green growth planning, financing, and institutional frameworks;

2. Increased green investment flows; and

3. Improved multi-directional knowledge sharing and learning and South-South and South-North-South cooperation among countries.

In working toward strengthening green growth planning, financing, and institutional frameworks, the Annual Report notes that green growth policies were adopted in a number of countries with encouraging signs that these policies have the potential for transformational change.

GGGI also delivered results in 2015 that helped to increase green investment flows.  GGGI efforts in Colombia, Ethiopia, India and Indonesia contributed to USD 131 million of new investment being mobilized toward green growth.

The 89 capacity building and knowledge sharing activities GGGI delivered in 2015 contributed significantly to green growth learning among countries and to positioning GGGI as a global green growth knowledge broker.   These activities helped to enhance the knowledge and skill of over 3,300 stakeholders working to implement green growth solutions in their countries and communities.

 
The Annual Report also highlights the successful efforts of GGGI in 2015 to refine its policies and systems in order to maximize organizational effectiveness and efficiency, which in turn played a crucial role in the delivery of results.
