GGGI Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as an International Organization

SEOUL –June 20, 2013 –The Global Green Growth Institute celebrated its one-year anniversary as an international organization today at its Seoul headquarters with an informal flag-raising ceremony.

On June 20, 2012, representatives from 16 countries signed the GGGI Establishment Agreement at a signing ceremony on the occasion of Rio+20, United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The signatories were:  Australia, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ethiopia, Guyana, Kiribati, Korea, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, the Philippines, Qatar, the UAE, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. These countries, along with Mongolia and Rwanda make up the organization’s founding members.

Since the ceremony at Rio+20, 11 countries have formally ratified the Establishment Agreement.  GGGI officially became an international organization in October 2012.
