Building on ongoing regional efforts, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in collaboration with Jordan’s National Designated Authority (Ministry of Environment), convened national stakeholders for an in-country workshop in Amman to strengthen institutional readiness for accessing international climate finance, particularly through the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The workshop brought together representatives from potential Direct Access Entities (DAEs), executing entities, development partners, and private sector actors to enhance understanding of climate finance mechanisms and the requirements for GCF accreditation. Through practical diagnostic and planning tools, participants conducted institutional self-assessments to identify strengths, capacity gaps, and priority actions needed to advance toward accreditation and climate project development.
The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of climate finance mechanisms and the requirements for direct access accreditation. The sessions supported institutions in identifying capacity gaps and defining actionable pathways to strengthen systems and advance toward accreditation.
By fostering dialogue among public institutions and private sector stakeholders, the workshop also contributed to strengthening collaboration and aligning efforts to develop a robust national pipeline of climate projects. Participants gained practical insights to support informed decision-making and enhance their role in mobilizing climate finance aligned with Jordan’s national priorities.
This activity is part of the regional readiness project “Leveraging the Private Sector for Increased Climate Investment and Strengthened Partnerships in the West Asia Region,” funded by the Green Climate Fund and implemented by GGGI in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
