Mr. Ban Ki-moon, GGGI President & Chair, receives the Albert I Grand Medal for his work in Ocean Conservation!

On November 7, GGGI President & Chair, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, was awarded the Albert I Grand Medal in the mediation section for his work in sustainable development and ocean conservation. The ceremony took place on November 7 at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco and was hosted by the Institute of Oceanography.

The Albert I Grand Medals were created in 1948 to honor scientific leaders and individuals who contributed to the preservation of the world’s oceans. During his time as the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon provided strong support for achieving SDG 14, Life Below Water, to conserve the world’s oceans and sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems.
