Suva, Fiji, November 14, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the iTaukei Trust Fund Board (TTFB) and Fiji Pine Ltd have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on expanding renewable energy development. This partnership supports the country’s long-term goals for clean energy, climate resilience, and sustainable community development.

The MoU provides a framework for the three organizations to jointly design and implement renewable energy projects, attract investment for clean energy solutions, and build local capacity. This collaboration aims to ensure that renewable energy initiatives bring direct social and economic benefits to Fijians especially iTaukei and Rotuman communities.
Chief Executive Officer for the iTaukei Trust Fund Board Mr. Aisake Taito highlighted the importance of the partnership.

“This collaboration ensures that renewable energy development contributes to the cultural, social, and economic advancement of iTaukei and Rotuman communities. It strengthens our commitment to empowering landowners and supporting long-term community well-being.”

All activities will follow strong environmental, social, and ethical standards.
GGGI’s Country Representative for Fiji, Mr Norbert Maass, noted the partnership’s wider impact: “This partnership is an important step forward for Fiji’s clean energy transition. Drawing on our expertise in applying green growth principles to economic development, and by working in close collaboration with national partners, we can advance renewable energy solutions that support economic growth, protect the environment, and create long-term benefits for communities across the country.”
