On 27 September 2021

He was invited to speak about the country’s current actions in green initiative, in line with the upcoming 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and commitments to secure a 1.5°C world.

During the interview, Juhern informed that the “the country so far is on the right track in its green initiatives, following its promise to cut down greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030, its moratorium on coal fire power plants, as well as its proposed legislations pushing for the use of e-vehicles. Question now is how these will be executed”. He added that the Philippine government can do more by implementing tax incentives, originating more ‘bankable green’ projects, and opening up the green industry to foreign investors, advocating the push for green economic stimulus to recover the recession caused by pandemic as well as the need to tap climate finance into the country.
