International Knowledge Exchange between Colombia and Mexico “Introduction to the National Agrologistics Plan”

In December 2019, the GGGI Colombia team and Colombian government officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), the National Planning Department, Procolombia, the Rural Agricultural Planning Unit, participated in an international exchange between Colombia and Mexico “Introduction to the National Agrologistics Plan” in Mexico City. This exchange came under the cooperation framework of the MADR, with the support of GGGI and the Norwegian Embassy.

Knowledge was exchanged on the operation of the agricultural park Yecapixtla, delving into the optimization processes in the production, packaging and export of Agricultural Products. The agricultural park is part of the National Agrologistics Program of Mexico, and operating on 100 ha for 5 years, it has so far exported USD 12 million worth of goods, and is responsible for the 600 jobs generated in the Morelos State.

The purpose of the event was to provide inputs and insight into the construction of the Colombian National Agrologistics Plan. The plan seeks to develop a comprehensive strategy focused on improving the sectorial capacities and conditions to develop logistics processes that allow for markets to be served more efficiently and competitively, and is one that is based on developing the specific actions to meet the identified agrologistics needs of Colombia.
