International Business Roundtable on Innovation and Green Development Held in Changsha, China

On June 5, the International Business Roundtable on Innovation and Green Development was held back-to-back with the National Annual Event for the 2018 World Environment Day in Changsha, Hunan Province. The meeting was co-organized by the China Council on International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), the China-ASEAN Environmental Protection Cooperation Center, as well as the Hunan Environmental Protection Agency.

The GGGI China team attended and co-organized the Green Urbanization Development and Practice Symposium with the China Center for SCO Environmental Cooperation (CSEC). Several government representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Vietnam were invited to share their national experiences and challenges with urbanization and economic development. Ms. Shomi Kim, GGGI’s Investment and Policy Solutions expert delivered a presentation on GGGI’s approach to green cities and green growth.

The meeting brought together Chinese and international guests to discuss policies and trends on innovation in green urbanization, ecological city partnerships for the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the promotion of green development through green finance. Included on the guest list was the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) who plays an essential role championing green growth and climate resilience, particularly, the central themes of economic and social development in China.
