In 2024, GGGI commissioned an end-project evaluation of the project – ROA02 Green Rehabilitation Investment Project in Uzbekistan to address impacts of the Aral Sea Crisis.
The project aimed to address the impacts of the Aral Sea ecological crisis and establish viable measures to pursue disaster-resilient and sustainable livelihoods for communities in the most disaster-affected districts. It promoted climate-resilient agriculture, strategic green investments, and supportive policies. The project was funded by KOICA.
The evaluation aimed to enhance development learning, strengthen accountability, and inform future project design. The primary intended users included GGGI, KOICA, the Government of Uzbekistan, community-based organizations, and partner NGOs.
The evaluation assessed the project’s relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability, as well as cross-cutting areas including gender equality and social inclusion, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning, and environmental and social issues.
The evaluation was managed by GGGI’s Impact and Evaluation Unit and delivered by Risk Frontiers in consortium with Juru.
GGGI sought a qualified, reputable, and experienced firm to provide consultancy services for the evaluation. The Terms of Reference, prepared by GGGI, guided submission of proposals.
