Head of Hydrogen
GGGI considers clean hydrogen a deep decarbonization solution and innovative climate technology within its broader energy transition portfolio, enabling countries to pursue low-carbon, resilient, and inclusive growth pathways. As part of GGGI’s work on clean energy transformation and industrial decarbonization, the clean hydrogen provides an important conduit for hard-to-abate sectors where direct electrification is often technically or economically hindered, and as a complementary alternative.
Building on this strategic focus, GGGI’s Hydrogen to Green Growth (H2G) Initiative supports members in developing clean hydrogen value chains, strengthening enabling policy and regulatory frameworks, and advancing international cooperation for sustainable development. The H2G Initiative further promotes interoperability across standards and systems, helping countries and industries align policies, and investment pathways for scalable clean hydrogen deployment.

The H2G Initiative supports the development of clean hydrogen value chains that contribute to climate neutrality, green industrial development, energy security, and sustainable economic growth.

The H2G Cooperation Model fosters North-North, North-South, and South-South cooperation to strengthen hydrogen ecosystems globally. By connecting governments, industries, and development partners, H2G facilitates technology exchange, capacity building, resource mobilization, and scalable project implementation across developed and developing economies.

Together, the H2G Nexus and H2X Program form an integrated ecosystem that connects knowledge, policy, partnerships, technical solutions, and investment to advance a sustainable and inclusive hydrogen economy, creating an enabling environment for the adoption of clean hydrogen. By assessing the current hydrogen landscape, building networks, and engaging stakeholders through consultations, the Initiative will design support programs and identify technical needs for H2G members and partners.

H2G Nexus is the knowledge, convening, and agenda-setting platform of the H2G Initiative. It is designed to support hydrogen readiness, partnerships, policy dialogue, and knowledge sharing across GGGI Members and partners.
Through H2G Nexus, GGGI brings together governments, industry representatives, experts, investors, development partners, and research institutions to discuss hydrogen priorities and support project development.

The H2X Program serves as the technical support platform under the H2G Initiative, designed to strengthen hydrogen readiness and accelerate the development of sustainable hydrogen ecosystems across member states. Through tailored technical assistance, policy support, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement, the program helps Members establish enabling environments for hydrogen deployment aligned with their national priorities and development pathways.
In addition, the H2X Program supports pipeline development by identifying, shaping, and advancing bankable hydrogen projects and investment opportunities. By connecting governments, industries, financial institutions, and development partners, the platform facilitates project preparation, resource mobilization, and partnership building to translate hydrogen ambitions into implementable projects and long-term impact.
