Applications for Greenpreneurs 2020 are open now! Organized by GGGI, Youth Climate Lab, and Student Energy, Greenpreneurs is a 12-week virtual entrepreneurship incubator supporting young people to develop social enterprise solutions to address sustainability and climate change issues in their communities! Youth between the ages of 17 and 35 are invited to submit their ideas to address a challenge currently faced in one of the following thematic areas: sustainable energy, sustainable landscapes, or green cities.
Greenpreneurs is a fully virtual, cost-free program, designed to be accessible to young people worldwide. As the current COVID-19 pandemic is placing additional issues for youth leaders working to implement climate change and sustainability solutions in their communities, Greenpreneurs offers the opportunity for them to continue to develop their green start-ups, while adhering to new public health guidelines on social distancing. Through virtual access to mentors, webinars, and support throughout the duration of the program, this year’s selected Greenpreneurs will be able to continue to advance their green start-ups and develop their skills and professional networks, despite the new obstacles brought by COVID-19.
At the end of the competition, three winning teams will be selected to win $5000 USD of seed funding to help them further expand their start-ups. Last year’s winning enterprises were all founded by innovative women who are now utilizing the funding they received from the program to scale up their green enterprises into the next stages.
For 2020, the core program will run from June 1st to August 28th. Each week will feature a virtual webinar, mentorship, and weekly tasks supplemented with online resources and inter-team communication on the Greenpreneurs web portal. At the end of week 12, each team will submit their Business Plan, and winners will be announced in September.
Applications for this year’s program will close on May 4, 11:59 UTC. Click here to apply now!
