Jakarta, Indonesia, August 8, 2025 – The Government of Indonesia and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) convened the Steering Committee Meeting of the Green Growth Program (GGP) . The event brought together over 80 participants from ministries and national agencies, six provincial governments, donor partners, and online participants.

This annual forum serves as a strategic platform where the Government of Indonesia and GGGI collectively review progress and make key decisions for the Program. Under the leadership of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Program promotes resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth across priority sectors.

“The purpose of this Steering Committee is to serve as a forum for communicating on its long-term benefits. The outputs produced are indeed subsequently used by stakeholders. But overall, in our opinion, the activities carried out under the Green Growth Program (GGP) Phase 3 have been good,” said Nizhar Marizi, Director of Environmental Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas.

The 2025 Steering Committee highlighted three main agendas: reviewing the results of 2024 program achievements, discussing the progress of 2025 activities, and initiating the development of the GGGI Indonesia Country Planning Framework (CPF) 2026–2030. Participants also addressed strategic cross-sectoral issues such as climate action, financing, and inclusive growth.

Sharing insights from the provinces, Dian Suryanata, Division Head of Economic Affairs and Natural Resources Management of the Regional Development Planning and Research Agency of North Kalimantan Province, highlighted the importance of innovative financing in promoting green growth. “The most relevant thing is how alternative financing was emphasized in the meeting. We believe it’s highly relevant and something we can apply after returning from here, because there is a new insight regarding green financing.”

Fegi Nurhabni, Deputy Director for Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change Adaptation at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, underscored the importance of blue carbon ecosystems as part of Indonesia’s climate ambition. “We need to accelerate the integration of blue carbon ecosystems, or the marine sector, into the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), as this will lead us to the next steps [in sustainable development],” she said.

At the closing of the meeting, Teni Widuriyanti, Executive Secretary of Bappenas recognized that the Green Growth Program must continue to drive Indonesia’s climate ambition and development goals through strong collaboration. “Hopefully, this will be a collective step toward strengthening development efforts with the green growth concepts,” she added.

As Indonesia advances into 2026 and beyond, the Green Growth Program Steering Committee will remain a cornerstone for guiding climate action, mobilizing sustainable investments, and promoting inclusive growth nationwide.
