GGGI’s support to Government of Madhya Pradesh (India) on the World’s Largest Floating Solar Project

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is supporting the Government of Madhya Pradesh, India, and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited in developing the #600MWFloatingSolarProject at Omkareshwar Dam, in #MadhyaPradesh, India-the largest in the world so far. GGGI acting as an independent technical & financial advisor has successfully enhanced the financial viability and bankability of the project.

The project now attains a key milestone as the Government of Madhya Pradesh issues Letter of Award for the 300 MW Floating Solar Project development (Round 1) to the 3 successful bidders – Amp Energy India, NHDC Limited, and SJVN LIMITED. Competitive bidding for the balance of 300 MW (Round 2) is expected to happen soon.

The estimated potential for the #FloatingSolarProjects in India is 280 GW and this project is a stepping stone for developing an ecosystem for #FSP going forward. This initiative will contribute to #India‘s goal of attaining 450 GW of power capacity from renewable sources by 2030. Congratulations to the Government of Madhya Pradesh for taking this noble initiative in the interest of the nation. #renewables Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)
