Seoul, Republic of Korea, May 19, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC) to foster collaboration in support of sustainable development and carbon neutrality, especially in administrative cities. The MoU was signed by GGGI Director-General, Sang-Hyup Kim and NAACC Administrator, Hyeong Ryeol Kim. 

This collaboration will leverage NAACC’s experience in planning and building a sustainable administrative city to benefit GGGI’s Member States and Partners undertaking new city developments and capital relocations. The partnership will focus on providing targeted technical assistance, identifying impactful joint projects, catalyzing green investments, facilitating knowledge exchange, and fostering innovative thought leadership in sustainable urban development.  

“Partnering with GGGI, a recognized leader in green growth, will significantly enhance the international recognition of Korea’s administrative city development model. We anticipate that this collaboration will unlock diverse opportunities for the global dissemination of Korea’s carbon neutrality technologies and the development of impactful joint projects, ultimately contributing to sustainable urban development and administrative capital relocation processes in developing and emerging nations,” Stated NAACC Administrator Hyeong Ryeol Kim.

This work offers valuable insights for GGGI Member States and Partners, and GGGI looks forward to facilitating the sharing of this expertise to support their transitions toward a greener future,” Emphasized GGGI Director-General Sang-Hyup Kim.  

This strategic partnership directly supports GGGI’s mission to empower its Member States in achieving robust, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable economic growth. By sharing Korea’s practical experience and innovative approaches in building a green administrative city, both GGGI and NAACC are committed to driving tangible progress towards a carbon-neutral and sustainable future for cities globally.

GGGI–행정중심복합도시건설청, 녹색성장 및 탄소중립 실현을 위한 업무협약 체결  

대한민국 서울, 2025년 5월 19일 – 글로벌녹색성장기구(GGGI, 사무총장 김상협)와 행정중심복합도시건설청(이하 행복청, 청장 김형렬)이 지속가능한 개발 및 탄소중립 실현을 위한 협력을 강화하고자 업무협약(MoU)을 체결했다. 이번 협약은 행정도시를 중심으로 한 지속가능한 도시개발 협력 확대를 목적으로 한다.  

행복청이 보유한 행정도시 기획 및 건설 경험은, GGGI 회원국과 파트너 국가들의 신도시 개발 및 수도 이전 사업에 유용한 참고 사례가 될 수 있다. 양 기관은 기술 자문, 공동사업 발굴, 녹색투자 유치, 지식 공유, 지속가능 도시개발을 위한 정책 확산 등 실질적인 사업을 함께 추진할 예정이다. 

김형렬 행복청장은 “녹색성장을 선도하는 GGGI와의 협력은 행복도시의 국제 위상을 한층 높이는 계기가 될 것” 이라며, “이번 협약을 통해 국내 탄소중립 기술의 해외 진출과 공동 협력사업 발굴 등 다각적인 확장 기회가 마련될 것으로 기대한다” 고 밝혔다 .  

김상협 사무총장은 “이번 업무협약은 우리 두 기관뿐만 아니라, 기후변화 대응을 위한 보다 살기 좋은 정주여건 조성 노력에서도 중요한 전환점이 될 것”이라며, “GGGI는 행복청과 함께 개발도상국을 대상으로 행정도시의 지속가능한 발전과 탄소중립 관련 기술, 정책, 경험을 공유하는 등 다양한 협력 기반을 조성해 나갈 수 있도록 적극 협조하도록 하겠다”라고 밝혔다. 

이번 파트너십은 GGGI가 추구하는 포용적이고 환경적으로 지속 가능한 경제 성장이라는 핵심 목표와도 맞닿아 있다. 양 기관은 실제 사례를 바탕으로 한 실행 중심의 접근을 통해, 탄소중립과 지속가능한 도시 개발을 위한 기반을 함께 만들어 나갈 계획이다.
