ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA –  OCTOBER 16, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute showcased its expanding portfolio of electric mobility initiatives across 20 countries, with a particular focus on six states in Africa and the Middle East, during a high-level session held as part of Africa E-Mobility Week 2025.

The session, titled “Green Mobility to Net-Zero: Driving the EV Transition,” brought together policymakers, investors, and private-sector leaders to discuss how integrated e-mobility solutions can accelerate Africa’s progress toward sustainable, low-emission transport systems.

Dr. Komlan Tindano, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Togo, shared the country’s strategic vision for low-emission transport, including the establishment of regulatory frameworks, incentive mechanisms, and national efforts to overcome implementation challenges.

A key highlight of the session was the keynote address by H.E. Bareo Hassen, State Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, who officially launched Ethiopia’s E-Mobility Strategy and Implementation Plan. This milestone marks Ethiopia’s commitment to building an inclusive, resilient, and low-carbon transport system and positions the country as a regional leader in sustainable mobility.

Kouassi Siala Ghislaine, Program Officer at GGGI Côte d’Ivoire, underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in driving e-mobility forward. “Public-private partnerships are essential to unlock innovation, attract investment, and scale up clean mobility solutions that align with national and regional climate ambitions,” she stated.

Through its country programs in Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Ethiopia, GGGI continues to work with governments to design enabling frameworks, mobilize green finance, and implement practical, scalable e-mobility solutions. These initiatives aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve urban air quality, and create new green jobs while supporting countries’ progress toward their Nationally Determined Contributions and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The session concluded with a shared call to action: strengthen cross-sector collaboration, accelerate private investment, and advance enabling policies to scale up electric mobility across Africa.
