GGGI Promotes Green Tourism Practices at Fiji World Tourism Day Seminar

On October 17, the Fiji Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism held a World Tourism Day Awareness Seminar in Rakiraki, Fiji. The seminar aimed to help micro, small, and medium enterprises in the tourism sector improve their productivity through innovation and sustainable growth, and was focused on the theme “Tourism and the Digital Transformation.” Attendees included representatives from accommodation providers, tour operators, and producers of local products in the Suncoast area of Viti Levu, Fiji’s largest island.

During the seminar, GGGI’s Pacific Regional Officer Kristin Deason delivered a presentation on greening the tourism industry in Fiji.  The session included a discussion of ways that digitization can help businesses operate in a more sustainable manner, and examples of green practices that business can use to help them reduce their environmental footprint.
