GGGI participates in the Northeast Asia Energy Forum in Japan

On September 20, Keeyong Chung, GGGI’s Director of Governance took part in the Northeast Asia Energy Forum held in Tokyo, Japan. The Forum provided an opportunity for speakers and participants to discuss lessons learned and implications for power grid linkage projects in Northern Europe, exchange views on economic benefits and potential for projects on power grid linkage in Northeast Asia as well as examine challenges and come up with suggestions for enhancing projects in Northeast Asia.

The Forum served as a platform for discussing ways to maximize efficiency and operationalization of the electricity market, enhancing countries’ power security and sharing major achievements in power grid linkage projects.

Among the speakers and participants were Kaoru Magosaki , Director of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA); Bavuudorj OVGOR. Head of Renewable Energy Division, Strategic Policy Planning Division of Mongolia’s Ministry of Energy; Mr. Hans-Arild Bredensen, CEO of Nord Pool Consulting; Dr. Xiupeng Guan, representing the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) in China and Ichiro Kutani, Senior Economic of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ).
