Apia, Samoa, 11–19 February 2026 – The GGGI Pacific Regional Director, Mr. Sakiusa Tuisolia (Saki), and Country Representative for Polynesia, Ms. Shomi Kim, led a strategic mission to Samoa to deepen partnerships, advance climate-resilient green growth, and strengthen climate finance collaboration.
Following Samoa’s Cabinet approval of membership to GGGI in January 2024, the mission reaffirmed GGGI’s commitment to supporting the Government of Samoa in delivering its climate action and green growth ambitions. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), as GGGI’s national focal point, hosted engagements alongside key ministries and partners.

The delegation met with senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, the Central Bank of Samoa and the Development Bank of Samoa. Consultations were also held with development partners including the British, Australian, and French diplomatic missions, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).

Discussions focused on progress and coordination across GGGI-supported initiatives, including:
- Climate Finance Access, Absorption, and Implementation in the Pacific
- The Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN)
- Greening the Pacific Financial Systems
- The Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency
- Exploring new opportunities in climate-resilient buildings, electric mobility, and sustainable finance. The mission also introduced Mr. Tuisolia as GGGI’s Regional Director for the Pacific and Ms. Kim as Country Representative for Polynesia, while providing updates to partners and identifying emerging priorities to further mobilize climate finance and accelerate Samoa’s transition toward sustainable, low-carbon and climate-resilient development.

Looking ahead, the mission created space to explore new and emerging priorities aligned with Samoa’s national development agenda including enhanced access to climate finance, strengthened institutional systems, loss and damage, private sector engagement, and innovative financing solutions to scale climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.

Through continued collaboration and coordinated partnerships, GGGI stands ready to support Samoa in delivering impactful, country-driven climate solutions and advancing resilient green growth for the future.
