GGGI on just energy transition at T20 in Indonesia

The T20 Indonesia Summit targeted to develop policy recommendations to help the G20 countries progress in global health architecture, digital transformation, and energy transition as of 2022.

Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), represented by India Country Representative, & DD Green Investment Services (Global), Nishant Bhardwaj, spoke at the plenary session under T20 Indonesia highlighting the battle of climate change that will be won or lost in G20 countries. Just energy transition will be critical in achieving the climate goals.

GGGI’s role with National Mining Agency, Colombia to develop a Climate Neutral Coal and Economic Transition Strategy was highlighted during the event, wherein, emission offset and the socioeconomic transition is envisaged to achieve through land use projects such as commercial forest plantations, agroforestry systems, productive restoration, and by conservation of natural forests.

Carbon pricing is a crucial factor for countries to attain their NDC commitments. In light of this, GGGI’s support in carbon financing, with their technical and financial advisory support to the Government of Madhya Pradesh, India, for developing the (largest at present in the world) 600MW Floating Solar Project at Omkareshwar Dam, was explained during the session.
