On 22 June 2022, Dr. Achala Abeysinghe, Director and Head of Programs of Asia at GGGI moderated the Special Event on Environment of Peace at the World Emerging Security Forum organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea. The Session focused on the twin crises of insecurity and environmental degradation, how the two are closely interlinked and the need for urgent, just and far-sighted joint solutions. Dr. Abeysinghe highlighted how GGGI’s vision for a low-carbon, resilient world of strong, inclusive and sustainable growth fits well to address the twin crises. The discussion was based on the report ‘Environment of Peace’ produced by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Ambassador and Deputy Minister for Climate Change, MOFA, Korea and Dr. Dan Smith, Director of SIPRI joined the Panel for the discussion.
