Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, May 7, 2025- The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has officially presented the findings of a national study examining the impacts of climate change on the health sector in Mongolia.
In partnership with the Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM), GGGI successfully conducted two comprehensive nationwide studies: “How Climate Change Affects Human Health, Food Security and Nutrition” and “Assessing the Preparedness and Response Capacity of Health Institutions to Climate Change”. The results of these studies were shared with key stakeholders including (the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the National Center for Public Health etc) during a public discussion forum held in Ulaanbaatar.

These studies aim to deepen the understanding of the health sector’s vulnerability to climate-related risks, strengthen its capacity to adapt, and provide evidence-based insights to guide the formulation of effective policies and programs.

As part of the event, printed copies of the research reports were officially handed over to relevant government authorities. The forum also served as a platform for experts and policymakers to exchange perspectives and recommendations on the health sector’s current challenges, opportunities, and adaptive capacity in the face of climate change. These discussions are expected to inform future strategic actions and decision-making.

GGGI expresses its deep gratitude to the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and the National Center for Public Health for their valuable support and technical input throughout the research process.
The findings from these studies offer crucial baseline information to support the development of future climate-resilient health policies and programs, enhance institutional preparedness, and strengthen the knowledge and capacity of health professionals across the country.
