Ha Noi, Viet Nam, April 16, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Director-General, Sang-Hyup Kim will attend the 2025 P4G Hanoi Summit. Co-hosted by the Socialist Government of Viet Nam and the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) initiative, the summit will take place on April 16–17 under the theme “Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition” in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

The event will convene heads of state, ministers, business leaders, financiers, and innovators to share insights, showcase innovations, and develop actionable strategies to accelerate climate innovation and unlock sustainable finance. As a key milestone leading up to COP30, the Summit aims to bridge policy, finance, and entrepreneurship to drive country-level climate transitions. Championing the summit’s vision, Director-General Kim will engage with leaders from governments, multilateral institutions, and the private sector through a series of high-level engagements before and during the Summit.

At the P4G Startup Pitch Day as a part of P4G Pre-Summit, on April 15, Director-General Kim joined Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Nguyễn Minh Hằng , World Resources Institute President, Mr. Ani Dasgupta, and other senior leaders in the High-level Opening Panel on “Boosting Climate Tech: The Role of Public–Private Partnerships”. This session explored how innovative ecosystems and cross-sector collaboration can drive investment in climate tech startups. Director-General Kim shared actionable steps to enhance investment readiness and foster public-private partnerships to help green startups attract the funding they need to scale.

On April 16, Mr. Kim will attend the Summit’s main events, including the Green Growth Exhibition Opening, P4G Opening Ceremony, and High-level Plenary Session hosted by the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

On April 17, Director-General Kim will participate in a Ministerial Panel on “Game-Changing Technology for Green Transition and Sustainable Development in the Intelligent Age,” hosted by the Minister of Science and Technology of Viet Nam. The panel will bring together diverse perspectives on how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can enable inclusive and scalable climate solutions. Director-General Kim will highlight GGGI’s approach to applying sustainable AI to climate action, including to reduce emissions, optimize resources, and support policymakers with digital emissions monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV).

Beyond the official Summit program, Director-General Kim will also engage in a full schedule of bilateral meetings with leaders of Government of Viet Nam and private sector counterparts. He will deliver a keynote speech at the P4G Welcoming Reception and Ambassadors’ Dinner, focusing on scaling green finance, building carbon market capacity, and accelerating Viet Nam’s climate-tech and low-carbon transformation, including startup acceleration through applications of AI.

This visit marks Director-General Kim’s first official visit to Viet Nam since his appointment in early 2025. It also coincides with the 10th anniversary of GGGI’s in-country operations — a significant milestone underscoring GGGI and Viet Nam’s shared commitment and strong partnership, in advancing the country’s green transition.
