GGGI Cohosted Global Net Zero Seminar in Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference 2024

Seoul, Republic of Korea, September 11, 2024 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) of the Republic of Korea and the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), organized the first “Seminar on Global Net Zero: The First Step toward a Sustainable Future” at the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) in Seoul, Korea.
In addition to the main event, GGGI conducted bilateral meetings on September 10 with country representatives to explore potential collaboration opportunities on green growth initiatives and Net Zero strategies. These discussions helped pave the way for deeper cooperation in sustainable development efforts.
The seminar attracted over 100 participants from the private sector, academia, and civil society, providing a platform for international dialogue on achieving Net Zero emissions. Key presentations included MOLIT’s National Net Zero Strategy and GGGI’s global Net Zero projects.
The highlight of the seminar was the panel discussion, which featured:
- Korea: Director of the Future Strategy Division, MOLIT
- Uzbekistan: Director of the PPP department, Ministry of Economy and Finance
- Cambodia: Director General of the General Department of Construction, Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLMUPC)
- Bolivia: Director of the Adaptation Mechanism, Plurinational Authority of Mother Earth
The panelists shared their countries’ green growth strategies, discussing how these align with national development goals and how global collaboration can accelerate the path to Net Zero.
The seminar emphasized the vital role of sustainable infrastructure in addressing climate change and highlighted the importance of international partnerships in shaping a sustainable, climate-resilient future.
