Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, November 7, 2025 — The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) proudly served as the sponsor of the 2025 edition of the International Sanitation, Toilets and Hygiene Fair (SITAHO), held in Ouagadougou under the High Patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso. The event brought together government leaders, researchers, private sector actors, and development partners to discuss innovative approaches to accelerate access to sanitation for all.

Held under the theme Accelerating access to sanitation for all: innovate, finance, and act, the SITAHO has become a leading platform for showcasing innovations, exchanging best practices, and fostering collaboration across the sanitation and WASH sectors in West Africa.

As the sponsor of SITAHO 2025, GGGI reaffirmed its partnership with the Government of Burkina Faso to promote green, inclusive, and climate-resilient sanitation solutions. Through its country program, GGGI supports the design and implementation of policies and investments that integrate water and sanitation management into the country’s green growth agenda.

Sanitation lies at the heart of GGGI’s mandate. It is a pillar of green development — because better management of water and waste means preserving resources, creating jobs, and protecting the climate. Our support to SITAHO 2025 reflects a shared vision: a green, resilient, and inclusive Burkina Faso, where sanitation and water management become drivers of growth and dignity,”
said Mr. Dethie Soumare Ndiaye, GGGI Country Representative in Burkina Faso.

SITAHO 2025 provided an opportunity for WASH stakeholders to explore new financing models, showcase local innovations in sanitation technologies, and build partnerships aimed at achieving SDG 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation for All. The fair also served as a space for dialogue on linking sanitation to climate resilience, gender inclusion, and circular economy solutions.

By integrating sanitation and water management into its green growth strategies, GGGI continues to help Burkina Faso transition toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient, and inclusive economy.
