GGGI Appoints Kate Hampton, CEO of CIFF and Yeonchul Yoo, ED of UN Global Compact Network Korea to its Council as Expert/Non-State Actor Members

Seoul, Republic of Korea, April 4, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has appointed Ms. Kate Hampton, Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and H.E. Yeonchul Yoo, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Korea, to its Council as Expert/Non-State Actor Members for the 2025-2026 term. These two distinguished leaders in sustainability and climate action will leverage their extensive expertise and global networks to amplify GGGI’s impact and foster crucial partnerships.

Ms. Kate Hampton has been leading the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) as CEO since 2016, driving impactful climate change initiatives and working to improve the lives of children globally. Her expertise across government, finance, consulting, and NGOs, combined with her extensive advisory roles with international organizations, will bring valuable insights to GGGI’s mission of supporting developing and emerging economies in their transition to green growth.
H.E. Yeonchul Yoo brings extensive experience in advancing climate action, corporate sustainability, and strategic partnerships in support of UN goals. Through his leadership at the UN Global Compact Network Korea and his extensive involvement in climate negotiations throughout his diplomatic career, including his tenure as Climate Ambassador for the Republic of Korea, he has played a pivotal role in advancing international climate discussions and strengthening the business sector’s engagement in climate action. His deep understanding of global sustainability principles, including how they apply to private sector, will be a valuable asset to the GGGI Council as it shapes GGGI’s strategy and programs.

These appointments underscore GGGI’s commitment to building strong partnerships with Experts and Non-State Actors for a sustainable future. Ms. Hampton and H.E. Yoo join an esteemed group of Expert/Non-State Actor Members of the GGGI Council, including H.E. Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations; and H.E. James Fletcher, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (CCREEE).
