Seoul, Republic of Korea, June 19, 2025– The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance international cooperation on climate change response through climate technology acceleration.

This MoU aims to establish a framework for leveraging the Republic of Korea’s climate technologies originating from, or derived during, government-supported research and development initiatives, with the goal of advancing global climate response. Building on their respective expertise and networks, the two institutions will work closely to advance the deployment and scaling of public climate technologies in GGGI’s Member States and Partners.

Under the MoU, they will collaborate to identify priority areas for climate technology development, accelerate deployment, and support implementation. Furthermore, the agreement covers the establishment of collaborative mechanisms that will enable pilot demonstrations and facilitate the knowledge exchange and resource sharing in climate technologies, thereby promoting green growth in developing and emerging economies.

“This MoU marks a significant first step toward advancing concrete and impactful cooperation with GGGI under our shared vision of science and technology-based climate action. We will continue to work closely with global partners to expand the international outreach of Korea’s public climate technologies.” Minister of Science and ICT, H.E. Yoo Sang-im, stated.

“This partnership with MSIT will serve as a strong foundation for advancing the deployment and enhancement of climate technologies across GGGI’s Member States and Partner Countries. We believe that combining MSIT’s technical expertise with GGGI’s on-the-ground experience in over 50 countries will create powerful synergies to accelerate climate solutions where they are needed most.” GGGI Director-General, Mr. Sang-Hyup Kim, added.

Moving forward, this collaboration is expected to strengthen climate technology cooperation and serve as a catalyst for promoting green growth and innovation in the global climate agenda.
