Seoul, Republic of Korea, March 17, 2026 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) hosted a joint Brown Bag Seminar today at the GGGI Headquarters in Seoul to formalize a strategic partnership for scaling green investment and climate action in emerging economies.

The event was preceded by a bilateral leadership meeting featuring Sang Hyup Kim, Executive Director of GGGI, and Mr. Sung Yong Eom, Senior Executive Vice President of KEXIM, where they discussed harmonizing GGGI’s technical expertise with KEXIM’s financial instruments to bridge the climate financing gap.

The subsequent seminar highlighted GGGI’s core initiatives, including the Korea Green New Deal Trust Fund (KGNDTF), which supports partner countries to transform climate priorities into investment-ready solutions. A key focus of the discussion was the Global Voluntary Carbon Market (GVCM). As the GVCM secretariat, GGGI is working with partners, including KEXIM, to establish transparent cross-border carbon trading mechanisms to enhance market integrity while its Hydrogen to Green Growth (H2G) initiative seeks to build global clean hydrogen value chains.

This seminar marks a pivotal step in fostering synergy between GGGI’s technical expertise and KEXIM’s financial strategic direction,” said Dr. Dukwoo Jun, Head of Green Trust Fund Unit at GGGI. “By integrating our resources, we can more effectively bridge the gap between green policy and large-scale climate investment.”

Representing KEXIM, the ESG management Department presented its strategic roadmap and the status of the Green Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), reaffirming the bank’s commitment to expanding climate-resilient financial support.

Both organizations pledged to deepen their collaboration to address the financing gaps hindering the achievement of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
