Seoul, Republic of Korea, July 13, 2026 — The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) today signed a funding agreement with the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), marking a milestone as K-water becomes the first public corporation to join its New Frontier Group (NFG)*. The signing ceremony was held at GGGI Headquarters in Seoul.

The agreement solidifies a joint commitment to deepen cooperation on green growth, climate action, and sustainable water management. Under the terms, K-water will provide financial and in-kind support for GGGI’s programs across developing countries. K-water’s accession to the NFG establishes a new template for collaboration between Korean public institutions and international organizations.

GGGI Executive Director Sang-Hyup Kim and K-water President Yoon Seok-dae presided over the ceremony, which included the signing of agreement, a certificate presentation, and a group commemorative photograph with senior officials from both organizations.

“Without sound water management, there is no climate resilience,” said Executive Director Kim. “Our partnership with K-water marks the beginning of a robust strategic relationship aimed at delivering tangible results in regions most vulnerable to climate impacts.”

Moving forward, GGGI plans to expand its collaboration model with Korean public institutions scaling up policy and technical support to bolster water security and climate resilience in developing countries. K-water’s entry into the NFG is expected to set a powerful precedent, encouraging further engagement from public institutions and city partners both in Korea and globally.

대한민국 서울, 2026 년 7월 13일 – 글로벌녹색성장기구(사무총장 김상협, 이하 “GGGI”)는 서울 GGGI 본부에서 한국수자원공사(K-water)와 재정지원협약을 체결하고 뉴 프론티어 그룹* 가입식을 개최했다.

*뉴 프런티어 그룹(New Frontier Group, NFG): 민간기업, 공기업, 필란트로피 재단, 지방정부 등 다양한 비국가 주체들이 참여하여 글로벌 녹색성장을 실천하는 GGGI의 민관 협력 플랫폼

이번 협약은 양 기관이 녹색성장, 기후 대응, 지속가능한 물 관리 분야에서 협력을 강화하기로 한 공동의 의지를 담았다. 수자원공사는 이번 협약을 통해 GGGI의 사업 추진을 위한 재정적비재정적 지원을 제공하는 한편, GGGI의 전략적 파트너십 플랫폼인 뉴 프론티어 그룹에 가입했다. 국내 공기업으로서는 최초의 NFG 가입 사례로, 국내 공공기관과 국제기구 간 협력의 새로운 모델을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

행사는 김상협 GGGI 사무총장과 윤석대 수자원공사 사장 등 양 기관 주요 인사들이 참석한 협약 체결식, 인증서 전달, 기념촬영 순으로 진행됐다.

김상협 GGGI 사무총장은 “물 관리 없이는 기후 회복력도 없다”며 “수자원공사와의 협력은 이번 협약에 그치지 않고, 개발도상국의 기후 대응 현장에서 실질적인 성과를 만들어가는 더 강력한 전략적 동반자 관계의 시작이 될 것“이라고 말했다.

GGGI는 이번 협약을 계기로 국내 공공기관과의 협력 모델을 확대하고, 물-기후 연계성을 고려한 정책기술 지원을 개발도상국 대상으로 강화해 나갈 계획이다. 수자원공사의 NFG 가입은 향후 다른 국내외 공공기관 및 도시 파트너들의 참여를 이끄는 선례가 될 것으로 기대된다.
