Belém, Brazil, November 14, 2025 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Global EverGreening Alliance (GEA) have signed a Global Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the beginning of a transformative partnership to advance nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and sustainable landscapes worldwide.
This collaboration combines GGGI’s deep engagement with governments and expertise in compliance with carbon markets with GEA’s technical leadership in ecosystem restoration and voluntary carbon markets. Together, the organizations will deliver bankable projects that attract investment, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to national climate commitments and biodiversity conservation.
Cooperation in support of GEA’s flagship Restore Africa program, targeting 1.8 million hectares of restoration and benefiting 1.5 million farming families across six African countries; and to achieve GEA’s global ‘Green Up to Cool Down’ campaign, aiming to capture 20 billion tons of CO₂ annually by 2050.
Joint efforts already underway for development of a project on Regenerative Agroforestry in the Philippines, which seeks to restore 137,000 hectares and mobilize $5 million for agroforestry-and bamboo-based value chains. Beyond the Philippines, this partnership will explore opportunities across Asia and Africa, strengthen enabling environments for voluntary carbon markets, and develop robust MRV systems to ensure certification of high-quality credits.
