Seoul, Republic of Korea, October 15, 2024 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) have formalized a strategic partnership to boost sustainable agricultural investment and enhance climate resilience across the Arab region. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a commitment to collaborate on impactful agricultural projects that address key environmental challenges while promoting food security and sustainable agricultural practices.

The partnership will drive projects that boost agricultural productivity, alleviate rural poverty, and support climate adaptation measures. It will directly benefit millions of people relying on farming for their livelihoods across the Arab region, addressing issues like desertification, salinity, and soil erosion, while advancing climate-smart technologies and sustainable agribusiness models. Through joint efforts, both organizations will mobilize resources and co-finance projects designed to foster a greener and more resilient agricultural sector.

Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of AAAID, said that  “This partnership marks an important step in fostering sustainable agricultural investment in the Arab region. By combining our expertise and resources with GGGI’s experience in green growth, we aim to boost agricultural productivity while safeguarding our environment and improving the livelihoods of communities.”

GGGI Director-General Dr. Frank Rijsberman highlighted that “Sustainable agriculture is key to achieving both food security and climate resilience in the Arab region. This MoU with AAAID enables us to expand our efforts to address environmental challenges while unlocking private capital to drive climate-smart investments in agriculture.”
