GGGI advances in the Department of Nariño (Colombia) with workshop Series #2: “Towards Green Growth with Bioeconomy and Circular Economy”

Pasto, July 27 – GGGI with the support of the Norwegian Embassy and the Governor’s Office of the Department of Nariño, carried out the second workshop out of the four series workshops planned on capacity building for the mainstreaming of green growth objectives at the local level. The workshop gathered public and private stakeholders that gained knowledge on the recently approved Green Growth Policy, acquired skills on bieoconomy and circular economy, and participated in the identification of projects for Nariño on these green growth opportunities. With this workshop, Nariño advances in strengthening local capacities and the promotion of green growth potential to develop initiatives and investments that will enhance productivity and competitiveness, primarily in areas with increased environmental degradation and forest cover loss.

More than 100 participants attended the workshop from the academic community, business associations, entrepreneurs, civil society, journalists and public officials and international cooperation institutions. Round tables were facilitated among these stakeholders to identify potential projects in Nariño on bioeconomy and circular economy previously prioritized as strategic opportunities for the region. Additionally, the round tables aim to promote an interactive dialogue and find synergies among stakeholders.
