Our gender work supports a model of growth that is inclusive and resilient. We work with Member States to ensure that gender equality is embedded in policy, projects, and finance so that climate and development action delivers fairer outcomes and stronger impact across genders.
Our delivery model
- Policy
We support governments in designing strategies and frameworks that integrate gender equality into green growth planning. This includes technical support for:
- Gender-responsive climate and development strategies.
- National and sectoral policies that mainstream gender considerations.
- Institutional arrangements that strengthen women’s participation and leadership.
- Planning tools that connect gender equality with inclusive growth.
- Monitoring approaches that track gender results across programs.
These frameworks help set priorities and make gender equality part of how countries plan and deliver climate action.
2. Project development
We help countries turn those priorities into projects. Our work includes:
- Gender analysis in project design.
- Women’s participation in climate and green growth initiatives.
- Inclusive livelihood and skills approaches.
- Program design that improves access to services, finance, and economic opportunity.
- Implementation support that makes projects more responsive to different needs and realities.
This helps countries move from broad commitments to action that works better for everyone.
What we do
Our gender work is centered on a few practical priorities.
- Mainstreaming gender: We support governments and partners in integrating gender equality across policies, programs, and investments.
- Women’s economic empowerment: We help create opportunities for women’s participation, leadership, jobs, and income generation.
- Inclusive service delivery: We support projects that improve access to energy, transport, livelihoods, and other services in ways that benefit women and marginalized groups.
- Capacity building: We strengthen the ability of institutions and partners to design and deliver gender-responsive action.
- Results tracking: We help ensure gender outcomes are measured and reflected in implementation.
