May 20, 2020 – Out of a total of 164 applications, the final 15 candidates have been selected for the Greenpreneurs 2020 program!
The candidates are all from countries in which GGGI has operations, including Cambodia, Colombia, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Rwanda, Uganda, and the UAE. Applicants were required to submit their green start-up ideas within one of three categories corresponding with GGGI’s thematic areas : Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Landscapes, and Green Cities.
Now, the final 15 Greenpreneurs will consult with their mentors and subject matter experts in their project field and participate in a series of online learning modules and webinars. After the preparation phase of the program ends, the Greenpreneurs will virtually present their business plan to a panelist of judges. Three finalists will then be selected to win $5000 of small-scale seed funding to develop their ideas into full-scale green businesses to benefit their local communities!
Organized by GGGI, Youth Climate Lab, and Student Energy, Greenpreneurs is a fully virtual, cost-free 12-week virtual incubator supporting young people to develop social enterprise solutions that address sustainability and climate change issues in their community. Teams of young people between the ages of 17-35 are invited to submit their solutions focused on one of the following challenge areas: sustainable energy, sustainable landscapes, or green cities.
