Suva, Fiji 28 April 2025, The Fiji Digital Climate Transparency Tool (FDCTT) was officially launched in Suva, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s climate transparency, emissions reporting, and data-driven decision-making.

The FDCTT is Fiji’s national digital platform designed to centralize greenhouse gas (GHG) data, support national emissions reporting, and track progress on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), as well as climate support received and required and serves as a central tool to manage climate data and the reporting process required under the Paris Agreement.
The development of the FDCTT was co-led by the Fiji Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) under the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) project. The CBIT project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as GEF’s implementing agency.
Designed to support Fiji in meeting its international climate reporting obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, the FDCTT also delivers wider national benefits. These include improved data coordination, strengthened institutional ownership, and enhanced evidence-based decision-making across all climate-impacted sectors, including energy, waste, and forestry.
The FDCTT was officially launched by Hon. Lynda Tabuya, Minister for Environment and Climate Change. She remarked, “Transparency is the foundation of climate action. With the launch of the FDCTT, Fiji is taking a decisive step towards a more transparent and coordinated approach to climate action. This tool strengthens our ability to track progress, manage climate support, and make informed decisions. It reflects our commitment to delivering on our climate ambitions both nationally and globally.”

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sakiusa Tuisolia, GGGI Pacific Regional Director, highlighted the importance of the milestone:
“As the Pacific region continues to face the frontline impacts of climate change, the ability to accurately track our climate actions and the support and climate finance the country receives has never been more critical. The value of the FDCTT lies in its ability to turn complex data into a clear narrative of national progress. This tool ensures that Fiji remains a leader in meeting its international reporting obligations under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.”

The launch event introduced the system to a broad group of stakeholders, including government ministries and agencies and development partners. Developed through collaborative and consultative approaches, this achievement is a testament to the robust partnership between the Fiji Government, GGGI, UNEP and the GEF, reinforcing a collective commitment to accountability and a sustainable future for the Pacific.
