Why this matters

Artificial intelligence is becoming a major force shaping energy systems, industrial competitiveness and climate action. It can support renewable energy integration, grid stability, energy efficiency and emissions monitoring. At the same time, the rapid growth of AI infrastructure is increasing electricity demand across data centers, semiconductor supply chains and digital systems. This creates an urgent need to scale clean energy, strengthen accountability and ensure that AI growth supports, rather than slows, global decarbonization. This dialogue will focus on how innovation, policy and finance can work together to support a sustainable AI era.

Program at a glance

The program will focus on two high-level areas: the technology and industry shifts shaping AI’s energy demand, and the policy and implementation pathways needed to power the AI era sustainably. The dialogue will conclude with key takeaways and collaborative next steps.

Session A

Tech and industry

The AI-energy nexus: efficiency, infrastructure and accountability

Exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping energy demand across digital infrastructure, semiconductor supply chains, data centers and clean energy systems, with a focus on industry solutions for powering a sustainable AI era.

Session B

Policy and implementation

Aligning climate policy with energy innovation and technology

Discussing how policy, regulation, governance frameworks and implementation partnerships can accelerate clean energy deployment and climate technology solutions for sustainable energy transitions.

In collaboration with Google and CTCN

This dialogue brings together GGGI, Google and the Climate Technology Centre and Network to connect technology, policy and implementation perspectives on sustainable AI and clean energy. The event will provide a platform for practical exchange between industry leaders, policymakers, climate technology experts, development partners and institutions working to align AI growth with clean energy transitions.
