COP17 – United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification
We will participate in UNCCD COP17, the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from 17 to 28 August 2026.
Hosted by Mongolia under the theme “Restoring Land. Restoring Hope.”, COP17 will bring together governments, development partners, civil society, scientists, youth, Indigenous Peoples, pastoralists, and smallholder farmers to advance solutions to desertification, land degradation, and drought.
Our participation at COP17
At COP17, we will contribute to discussions on:
- Mobilizing finance for land, water and nature
- Strengthening long-term financing models for conservation
- Advancing drought and flood resilience
- Supporting community-led land restoration
- Linking land restoration with climate, biodiversity and green growth priorities

In the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan, we are supporting improved water resource management, early warning systems, infrastructure support and local capacity building to reduce flood and drought risks.
