DAKAR, Senegal – July 5, 2026 — The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is proud to announce that Dr. Malle Fofana, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Green Growth Implementation, has been awarded the LeadSen Green Impact & Sustainable Development Trophy 2026.
The award was presented during the second edition of the LeadSen Forum and Awards Night, held on July 4, 2026, at Noom Hotel Dakar under the theme: “Digitalization and Competitiveness of Senegalese Entreprises.”
This distinction recognizes Dr. Fofana’s outstanding leadership and strong commitment to sustainable development, ecological transition, and innovation for territorial development, as well as his contribution to enhancing the global profile of Senegal and the African continent.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fofana has supported more than fifty countries on climate, sustainable development, and green growth issues. His work has contributed to strengthening public policies, mobilizing green investments, and promoting more resilient and inclusive development models.
This recognition comes at a time when African countries are accelerating efforts to reconcile economic competitiveness, job creation, and climate resilience.
On this occasion, Dr. Fofana stated:
“This distinction is, above all, a collective recognition. Through supporting many countries on climate and sustainable development challenges, I have developed a strong conviction: a nation’s greatest asset is neither its natural resources nor its subsoil wealth, but its human capital. Senegal and Africa possess the talent, innovative capacity, and institutional strength needed to build more resilient, competitive, and sustainable economies. The ecological transition is not a constraint; rather, it represents a major opportunity to transform our economies and prepare for the future.”
GGGI welcomes this recognition as an acknowledgment of the importance of leadership that places people, innovation, and partnerships at the center of sustainable economic transformation. GGGI reaffirms its commitment to supporting its Member States and partners in their transition toward low-carbon, climate-resilient, and opportunity-generating growth models.
