Vang Vieng, Lao PDR, July 2, 2026 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), convened a three-day Project Nexus Workshop from 29 June to 2 July 2026 to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and advance integrated planning for climate-resilient agriculture in Lao PDR.

The workshop brought together representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), and the provinces of Bolikhamxay and Savannakhet to establish a shared implementation roadmap for the Long-Term Strategy (LTS) Project. By fostering collaboration across institutions, the workshop reinforced a coordinated approach to addressing the interconnected challenges of food security, water management, energy, and climate change.

During the consultation, participants agreed on priority Food-Water-Energy Nexus issues that will guide project implementation over 2026–2027. These priorities will shape two major project outputs: a Food-Water-Energy Nexus Policy White Paper to strengthen integrated policymaking and a Climate-Resilient Agriculture Investment Plan to identify priority investments that support sustainable agricultural development and climate resilience.

Beyond defining project priorities, the workshop strengthened partnerships among national and provincial institutions, creating a stronger platform for coordinated planning and decision-making. This collaborative approach will help improve policy coherence, mobilize climate investments, and support the Government of Lao PDR in building more resilient agricultural systems and protecting the livelihoods of communities most vulnerable to climate change.
