Burkina Faso: Technical workshop for the revision of the Building Code

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; February 21st to 25th 2021 – The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in collaboration with Burkina Faso’s Ministry in charge of Housing and Urbanism, organized a workshop in the framework of the revision of the Urbanism and Building Code initiated by the Government. Since the last revision of the code of urban planning and construction in 2006, the needs and requirements in terms of construction have changed significantly, hence the importance of its revision.

This technical workshop aimed to provide relevant information to improve the national housing and construction code. Over five days, the attendees discussed the revision of the provisions to regulate constructions, the incorporation of provisions for energy efficiency and the integration of quality and safety aspects in constructions.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry in charge of housing and urbanism, Mr. Stanislas B. Goungounga underlined GGGI’s support in the frame of Social Housing Energy Efficiency and Cooling Project (SHEECP) funded by the Clean Cooling Collaborative. The ministry’s technicians have also benefited of a training on the sub-regional and national policies on Energy Efficiency of buildings.
