Basic Presentation and Infographic Design Training for MoEF

One way of socializing the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and its recent updates under the Nationally Determined Contributions Partnership—Climate Action Enhancement Package (NDCP—CAEP) program is by increasing awareness and understanding of all stakeholders on the subject. In order to do so, there are certain skills needed, one of which is to create substantial yet attractive presentation and infographics to spread the knowledge.

According to many studies, the human brain processes images faster, as 90 per cent of information sent to the brain is visual. Fully aware of this, the Directorate General of Climate Change (DGCC) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) would like to equip their staffs with these skills.

On Friday, March 13, 2020, GGGI Indonesia facilitated the “Basic Presentation and Infographic Design Training” at Lippo Kuningan, Jakarta. It was attended by 25 participants, both from MoEF and GGGI. The training was set to improve basic presentation design knowledge and skills, as well as techniques and tricks for creating simple infographics.

The participants were also trained to deliver good presentation with content that can be easily absorbed by the target audience. The training, which was conducted by PT. Presenta Edukreasi Nusantara, was very interactive, and the participants seemed to enjoy it a lot. The participants were to bring their own laptops because the training used techniques that required them to directly practice the knowledge gained. The trainers provided written handouts, aside from tools to support the participants’ designs in the future, such as fonts, presentation slides templates, color schemes, and also video tutorials. The training was divided into two sections; basic presentation design in the morning and infographic design in the afternoon.

Training like this is considered crucial to increase awareness and understanding of stakeholders, especially all key ministries/institutions, particularly on NDC and Updated NDC. In return, good presentations are expected to encourage stakeholders’ active participation at national and subnational levels to implement NDC.
