The General Directorate for the Preservation of the Environment (DGPE), through Burkina Faso National Ozone Office in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) organized an awareness-raising workshop on energy-efficient, ozone-friendly, and climate-friendly cooling solutions. Several public procurement actors from the different ministries took part in the discussions on September 28th, 2022, in Ouagadougou.
The overall objective of the workshop was to make participants aware of the consideration of energy efficiency and low Global Warming Potential refrigerants specifications when ordering refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in public buildings. GGGI, based on studies carried out at the national level on energy efficiency in the field Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems mapping survey results, was able to present the trends of the HVAC market and gaps analysis of government documents.
Following this workshop the National Ozone Office, GGGI, and Clean Cooling Collaborative, will update the public procurement specifications considering energy efficiency of cooling appliances.
