About GGGI in Cote d'Ivoire
GGGI has been working with the Government of Cote d’Ivoire
since 2021 and together have collaborated to develop and
implement the Country Planning Framework (CPF) covering the period 2021 – 2025. The CPF aims to deliver projects aimed at poverty reduction, enhancing food security, sustainable forest management, sustainable mobility, and improvement of the productivity of value chains, among other objectives.
A dedicated team of technical experts embedded within local and central governmental institutions implements GGGI’s Cote d’Ivoire Country Program. GGGI’s team provides timely and high-quality demand-driven technical and advisory assistance across five programmatic solutions in line with Cote d’Ivoire’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Our Collective Journey
GGGI in Cote d’Ivoire leads efforts aimed at building resilient communities and champions the adoption of sustainable forests and landscapes practices. In addition, alongside the Government of Cote d’Ivoire, it has led to the accreditation of BNI, the National Investment Bank of Cote d’Ivoire, as a Green Climate Fund (GCF) Entity, allowing the country to directly access funding from it. GGGI is also supporting Cote d’Ivoire in unlocking carbon finance under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
In addition, the collaborative work between GGGI and the Government of Cote d’Ivoire has led to the adoption of green building standards, the development and adoption of a Green City Strategy as well as the development of the country’s National Financial Vehicle. Other interventions have focused on sustainable mobility to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and reduce emissions from the transport sector.
GGGI in Cote d’Ivoire is also spearheading efforts to highlight the climate-sanitation nexus to ensure that sanitation is considered in national plans on climate change. In addition, GGGI is partnering with the Global Methane Hub (GMH) to initiate actions that aim at reducing methane emissions in the waste sector. With support from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), GGGI is working with its partners on a program that seeks to enhance economic empowerment and improving the livelihoods of youths through green entrepreneurship and digital literacy.
