Tsegaye Tadesse is a Forestry Advisor in GGGI Ethiopia Office based in Addis Ababa. At his current role, Tsegaye is working with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change directly supporting the Ministry through the provision of technical support working with the Forest Sector and more specifically with the REDD+ Secretariat.
He comes with a broader experience in participatory approaches for natural resource management, guiding carbon finance projects (particularly REDD+), training and mentoring and supporting policy processes and advocacy. His track record includes being an implementer, project manager in initiatives with a multi-stakeholder engagement, trainer and facilitator.
Prior to GGGI, Tsegaye’s professional experience includes working for:
- The Government of Ethiopia as senior Forestry Expert and later as Deputy Director for Natural Resource Bureau of Oromia regional state.
- GIZ in Ethiopia as senior Policy Advisor for the programme on Sustainable Utilization of Natural Resource for Food Security
- Farm Africa (a UK based international NGO) in Ethiopia as Programme Manager for the Bale Ecoregion Sustainable Management Programme
Tsegaye has also worked as a consultant serving the Ministry of Agriculture, Ambero-GITEC, GOPA (both are German based companies with forestry related operations) and NTFP-PFM project in Ethiopia. These are mainly related to developing training modules and manuals on Participatory Natural Resource Management and project review and evaluation.
Tsegaye Tadesse holds MSc in Plantation Forestry from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry for Rural Development from ITC, the Netherlands and BSc in Forest Management from Wondo Genet College of Forestry in Ethiopia.
