Suki Atwal is a Principal Green Finance Specialist with GGGI. Suki has over 20 years of experience in Structured and Project Finance in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors and has concluded over £3 billion of fixed income transactions globally. Prior to joining GGGI he was a Principal and Co-founder of Balbourne Capital Partners, a Private Equity firm focused on Renewable Energy in the UK (including Onshore Wind, Solar PV, Biomass, Waste to Energy and Anaerobic Digestion). He established two separate funds primarily focused on Onshore Wind Farm development and was a General Partner on both funds. Suki was also a main Board Director of WilloWind Energy Limited where he led the development activities with a “hands-on approach”, including oversight of the technical environmental submissions into planning as well as the political lobbying, public exhibitions and community engagement work.
Suki has held senior banking positions at a number of Commercial and Investment Banks including Wachovia Bank N.A. (now Wells Fargo), Lloyds TSB, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Ltd (SMBCE) and NatWest. During his banking career he has undertaken the role of Bank Technical Advisor on Qatargas LNG in Qatar and Sohar Refinery in Oman and Insurance Advisor on Saudi Polyolefins Company (SPC) in Saudi Arabia.
Suki is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) having trained initially with Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accountancy from Glasgow Caledonian University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from Strathclyde University.
