Stephan Gill

Stephan Gill is a Senior Officer in the Carbon Pricing Unit. In this role, he manages the Mobilizing Article 6 Trading Structures (MATS) Program. The program seeks to support host countries to access carbon finance under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The program supports countries to put in place governance frameworks required to trade under Article 6 and will facilitate actual transactions for Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO).

As program manager, Stephan brings experience with a rich background working across multiple sectors. He has held qualifications as a Chartered Management Accountant, Certified Scrum Master and Accredited Lean Practitioner. Stephan worked as a management consultant for KPMG in London for 5 years, and in this role offered operational transformation advisory services to organizations across the banking, consumer goods and energy sectors. Stephan joined GGGI in 2017, serving as the Country Portfolio Officer for the Africa Region until early 2020. In that role, he supported the development of a large portfolio of programs in multiple countries and brings that expertise into his current role.

Like many members of the Carbon Pricing Unit, Stephan enjoys an active life outside of work participating in sporting activities such as football, cycling and hiking with his family.
