Robert Dawson is GGGI’s Deputy Director-General and Head of its Operations Enabling Division. Mr. Dawson joined GGGI only six months after it was established, in 2013. Since then, he has been an integral part of its management team, leading the organization’s efforts to maximize cost efficiencies through refining its management structure and implementing operational systems and processes that deliver ‘value for money’. In addition to being Deputy Director- General, he provides oversight and direction of the Finance, Corporate Services, HR, Facilities, Legal, Governance and IT functions of GGGI. He was also one of the key contributors to drafting of GGGI’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020 and continues to drive its successful implementation.
Prior to joining GGGI, Mr. Dawson was the Secretary of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he led and directed the Office of the Secretary which is responsible for formal shareholder matters and communications, meetings and actives of the ADB Board of Governors and the Board of Directors; and for effective liaison between them and the ADB Management and Staff.
Mr. Dawson has held a variety of senior and executive management positions prior to joining ADB, leading diverse international teams.
An Australian national, Mr. Dawson holds a Masters in Sustainable Management from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Education (Honors) degree from James Cook University of North Queensland, and attended the Columbia University Senior Executive Program.
