Dr. Pranab Baruah is Senior Knowledge Manager in GGGI’s Investment and Policy Solutions Division and serves as Senior Research Manager with the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) Secretariat. Pranab oversees the research agenda of GGKP and contributes to GGGI’s knowledge management and thematic area activities.
Prior to GGGI, Pranab was a Senior Researcher and Manager at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in Japan, overseeing projects on city energy analytics and strategy and policy dialogue on energy transition. He is a visiting associate at Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute, where he earlier contributed to modeling, analysis, and project coordination in three consortia on national energy and infrastructure futures and industrial energy efficiency. With a transdisciplinary background, Pranab’s experiences include developing carbon management solutions for multinational corporations, satellite remote sensing applications for environmental change management, and graduate teaching and joint research with government and industry at the University of Tokyo and University of Oxford.
With working and studying experience in Japan, the UK, Thailand, and India, Pranab speaks fluent Japanese along with Hindi, Bengali and his mother tongue Assamese. He holds a PhD in engineering, an MBA in Strategic Carbon Management and a professional license in green building design and construction (LEED AP BD+C).
