Monica Parra is a GGGI Economic Officer who joined the organization in 2015. She is currently working with the Government of Colombia providing technical advisory in the formulation and integration of green growth criteria and objectives into development planning activities and instruments, particularly with regards to the formulation of a long-term green growth policy and the development of green growth indicators. She is responsible of providing supervision and technical inputs, including technical studies and assessments.
Monica has a comprehensive professional experience of over 12 years in economic analysis, development economics, finance and project management. She has been working as a Consultant since 2008, generating numerous economic analysis for state and private institutions; her last consultancy assignment focused on financial assessments for urban projects at Bogota’s Planning Secretary. Monica formerly served as Director of Economic Studies in a Colombian bank and as Project Coordinator in a program of the Ministry of Education of Colombia and the Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to this, Monica worked at the Energy, Transport and Infrastructure Department at SOFRECO (France), and was a Government Officer for several years carrying out sector and macroeconomics studies and conducting assessments of public policy, as well as contributing to the technical planning of the Bus Rapid Transit System in Bogota.
Monica majored in both Economics and Public Administration. She also holds two Master’s degrees in Economics and International Project Management obtained in France, and a Master degree in International, Politic and Economic Affairs attained in Colombia. She fluently speaks Spanish, English and French.
