Joshua Elaru is an associate, Solar home system Program working under the Project ‘Catalyzing the Solar Home Systems (SHS) market to benefit low-income, urban households in two secondary city Mbarara and Gulu’ in Uganda. His work focuses on supporting project management and implementation in Gulu by ensuring efficiency and consistency in the execution of established work plans.
Joshua joined GGGI in May 2018 and brings expertise in the field of environmental sciences particularly in sustainable energy and water applications. He worked for 3 years as a Research lead and associate at the UNEP Tongji Institute in Environment Sustainable development (IESD). In this position he worked under the UNEP south-south project on the sustainable use of water in developing countries to improve management of water resources. He has also previously worked with the Entebbe Municipal council, Surveillance world International and Delight solar in various positions.
Joshua holds a Masters of Engineering in Environmental science from Tongji University and a Bachelors degree in Environmental science from Makerere University.
