Ms. Inhee Chung is the Senior Sustainability and Safeguards Specialist at GGGI. Her main responsibility is to lead the work on environmental and social safeguards for GGGI’s programs and projects, and introduce corporate social responsibility (CSR) measures for GGGI’s internal operations.
Prior to joining GGGI, Ms. Chung was with a global sustainability consulting firm, Environmental Resources Management (ERM), where she led Korea’s Sustainability and Climate Change practice. At ERM, she advised multinational companies on sustainable business strategies, and improving their environmental, health and safety performance. She also managed a team of professionals to successfully certify over 15 new and existing buildings to obtain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in Korea and Indonesia, and project managed industrial gas and large-scale hydropower Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in Korea and Pakistan. Prior to ERM, Ms. Chung spent over eight years with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), first with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Montreal, and later with the Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) based in Paris. At UNEP, Ms. Chung managed various projects ranging from cleaner production, resource efficiency, green buildings to Climate-Neutral UN initiative funded by bilateral donors and the European Commission.
Ms. Chung grew up in both Korea and the UK, and holds degrees in Environmental Science and Engineering (Ewha), Environmental Economics and Management (York), and Environmental Technology – Energy Policy (Imperial College, London).
